@gardencat no I know the one you're thinking of. It starts a burgundy red, but some of the leaves have gone green then bright red. It's at it's prettiest right now with the majority being a bright red.
@shepherdmanswife I love the variety of Japanese maples. I have 2. One spends the whole summer a really bright and lovely yellow green and then, in autumn, the leaves turn a sort of apricot colour and the other spends the summer a kind if light red tone and in the autumn goes a deeper, almost but not quite, burgundy tone.
