Bougainvillea Study

Someone posted a beautiful shot of bougainvillea about a week or so after I posted a couple, and hers was SO much better than mine! So I looked at her EXIF info and noticed she used a smaller aperature. I've been meaning to get back outside and try mine again using the smaller aperature, and I came up with two today. These are not aesthetically pleasing, but I did get better dof. Not sure what I think about the bokeh, tho. SOOC. Comments/critiques requested!
The white flower in the forefront is very delicate and beautiful. The water on the leaves are well done. Overall, very nice.

Ah this pops well and has nice dof and the color pops better. Keep playing you will get there, but change one thing at a time.

Nice capture Ashley. If you want more of the flowers to be in focus close your aperture to say f/8 or f/11 or even a higher no.If you go to Aperture priority the camera should select a shutter speed to suit.If it is too slow you may have to use a tripod to prevent the camera shakes.

This is good, I do like your other shot better as the leaves of this one start to leave the depth of field and blend with the background. If the crop was tighter than I don't think I would feel the same way and a few of the leaves behind the focal plane would distract me. Having said that, I respect you as an artist and your vision for your images. The previous is offered strictly as feedback of my viewing experience in case it is useful as you craft your images. I continue to be motivated by your drive to experiment and work things out. It's quite impressive.

meant to say: "...behind the focal plane would NOT distract me."
