The teenager has been finishing up his Eagle project: 6 picnic tables for a new picnic area at the church, with one of the tables being handicapped accessible. They were built from scratch; all materials purchased piece by piece; all pieces measured, cut, drilled and placed by one of his team. This is a shot of the circular saw cutting one of the pieces. And I have to say, those are some seriously sturdy tables they built!
I think what he struggled with the most, once the actual building began, was not having his hands in every part of it. The scout's main job is to oversee, organize, help as needed, delegate, run ... to appoint someone ELSE to figure out the angle that should be cut to make those legs work, not necessarily BE the one who figures that angle out! Tough to do after having been the one who had to know intimately know every detail before the build actually began. But he's done now! All tables built, hours logged, mess cleaned up, and the church will use them for the first time this coming weekend as the new pastor is welcomed with a picnic Sunday afternoon. Well done, my son!
Now all he has to do is wait the 4 - 8 weeks for the council in TX to approve the project.
Ashley, what a wonderfully proud moment for you and for that son of yours! I've always known it takes a special and dedicated young man to become an Eagle Scout; I can't imagine this worthy project won't be approved! Your sentiment to his is very touching ♥ : )
