What started out as looking like mugshots turned out to be somewhat rescue-able. Wrong WB plus on-camera flash is not at all flattering! Grateful for RAW files, LR and PS. No great scenery, nothing exciting, but their expressions were great, and the photos were actually on the sharp side!
Both are lovely. Is there a blue cast to the whites of the eyes? Heavy sharpening (the high pass filter is that) can mess up RGB color. A Hue/saturation mask, lower the saturation and then mask it out everywhere except the whites of the eyes. Delete the white layer mask, and then add a black one with ALT + Add Mask and paint on it with white us the simple way to do it. A finicky way is to use use curves or levels, choose the Blue channel and pull that down low.
@frankhymus I will definitely look at that. The whites were bothering me, but I thought it was just too much of the effects, so I masked the whites at 50% saturation. I'll try the blue adjustment.
