Greater spotted woodpecker

This bird is so hard to get a good photograph of, usually the slightest movement and they are off. I was about to go out and fill all my feeders up when I spotted this one. This is the female as it has no red on the head. The males have red on the back of their heads and the young ones have red on the top of the head like a red cap. I love the way they wrap their tails round to keep balance.
Well captured - they are beautiful birds

He's got a nice sharp beak to get through this wire and hangs on well!

He's a beauty - didn't even know about this woodpecker. The use of that tail is neat.
