I took this last week when we were at Lake Tahoe. The “hair” on these bears is completely made of pennies (US one cent pieces). Pennies are made of zinc but covered with copper. They are about 1/2 inch in diameter. The pennies are attached by their edges so they stand out. There must be thousands of them.
Wow- no wonder there was a penny shortage a few years back! haha I'm surprised someone has not tried to deface it. It's a cool sculpture and probably attracts a lot of attention. Nicely captured.
