I saw this pine tree growing in Buhl Park. My eye was drawn to it because of its crooked trunk. It was surrounded by larger trees and shrubbery but the sun was shining through to illuminate this tree in sort of a spotlight effect. I thought, had it been raised on a tree farm, no one would ever have chosen it for their Christmas tree because of its twisted trunk. Then I wondered how often I have rejected people because of a handicap I might be uncomfortable with. As you can see, the tree's shape is perfectly good. but we tend to allow ourselves to be focused on the disfigurement.
Beautifully spotlit in the sun. It seems to be doing well despite the crooked trunk - nature is very adaptable. I appreciate your narrative - strength, beauty and value can be overlooked or dismissed very easily if we don't take the time look from a new perspective
