This is Chase. He came into our daughter's family in 2013. Her husband bought him for a hunting dog. In June 2013 her husband died from complications after surgery. Last year Chase started retaining fluid. The veterinarian diagnosed that he had cancer of the spleen. The vet said there wasn't anything he could do other than make him comfortable by giving Chase steroid shots. The shots worked giving them time to enjoy his last days. On Sunday, September 29th our daughter called and told my wife that Chase had a nose bleed and it wouldn't stop. Being Sunday all local vets were closed. So we looked online and found three emergency vet clinics. We drove Chase to Girard, Ohio being that it was the closest 21 miles away. The vet clinic resembled an emergency room at a hospital. The waiting room was full of people and their pets. After a very long wait, over an hour and a half, the vet finally saw Chase. Not being overly sensitive he gave Chase a shot of epinephrine and we took Chase home. Monday my wife and daughter took Chase to his regular vet and he recommended they put him down. He told our daughter that the cancer may have metastasized into his sinuses. He emphasised to her that she didn't want to see a dog bleed out. On September 30 with us all gathered around Chase and with broken hearts we said our final goodbyes.
I'm sorry to read your sad news about Chase. He sounds like a very well loved dog, and this must be so hard for you all. My thoughts are with you and your family.
I'm so sorry, they are faithful friends. A hug
