Abandoned farmhouse by soboy5

Abandoned farmhouse

I went for a motorcycle ride this afternoon and took a break at this old, abandoned farmhouse. It is falling apart but I love photographing it.
Great colours and textures, and I really like the angle! You can't help but imagine all the comings and goings that have taken place in the building over the years! Wonderful shot! :-)

@allisonrap Thanks for the kind words, Allison - I love stopping here and I also think about what used to be on this farm and in this farmhouse!

I think this picture is alluring. It makes me think about who had lived there, what the walls have seen. It's a handsome structure that really was worthy of upkeep. It's a shame it's in such a state. You've preserved it... well done!

@eyesofbetsie Thank you for the kind comments. For some reason, I'm drawn to this old abandoned farmhouse, which I have been photographing for a couple of years. Today, I observed that its deterioration has increased noticeably since the last time I shot it, which was April 1. I plan to keep photographing it for as long as possible.

@purdey Thanks, Sharon - it is a really cool old structure and I love photographing its gradual decline into eternity!

The colors and textures are wonderful. When I see houses like this, I can't help but wonder about the history they hold.

@betsyg Thanks, Betsy. I think this one might be haunted, I have peeked inside before and there are tables, chairs, pots, pans, dishes, clothing and other personal items inside - like the occupants left suddenly.

That would be a cool shot too - looking inside at the dust covered items exactly as they were left years ago. As long as the ghosts don't get you - lol!

Lovely house ... sad that nobody is living there anymore!
May 2nd, 2012
Nice portrait of the house. Do you think you might try some detailed shots? Could be potential there
May 2nd, 2012
@betsyg @paulavdmerwe @yrhenwr Thanks for the kind comments. I don;t think I would venture inside - I don't like ghosts. But I have taken a few peeks inside! It is really starting to fall apart and it would take a lot of work to make it habitable. I have taken many detail shots of this old farmhouse before and next time I go there, I will take one just for my project and post it!

@beachradish Thanks! I entered a b&w close-up of the window in my local photo club's recent contest, the theme was "decay/abandoned"

Isn't it amazing how fast nature takes over these abandoned houses? This is such a unique old house. I love the rusty roof, and the weathered roof. Nice framing with the trees. Great series of shots, Danny:)
