My girlfriend just planted this in her garden, so we are hopeful that we will see some butterflies this summer. Looks nicer enlarged on the black background.
What a lovely capture - love the focus and love the background colour. I attempted to plant one of these earlier this year - but the dog dug it up (along with most of the garden LOL)!
@simon0128 Around here they just call it a "butterfly bush". I think my theme changed to butterflies for the week so tomorrow I'll post my one and only decent capture of a real butterfly!
Cool can’t wait, someone told me if you catch one and put it in the fridge for 5 or 10 mins then take them out, they are less active and you can take loads of shots for a few minutes, I think the fridge just slows their circulation down, but don’t leave in to long lol : )
@simon0128 The last time I actually "caught" a butterfly was when I was a child, but I did capture one on digital! The frig thing sounds kinda cruel...
great shot. Hope you get to see lots of butterflies in the near future. I bought a buddleia (an Aussie variety) and it bears masses of flowers but the trouble is that it blooms way before it is warm enough for butterflies to come out. Bit disappointing ... Luckily the flowers are gorgeous in their own right.
@sabine Thanks, Sabine - a friend of mine emailed me yesterday to tell me this is actually a "Veronica" plant, not a butterfly bush, so I am not sure we are going to get any butterflies now! But it is quite the coincidence that my girlfriend, whose name is Veronica, now has a Veronica plant!!
@simon0128 Thank you, Simon!
@paulavdmerwe thanks Paula
