R.W. Mabry 1795 - 1870

Here lies the founder and namesake of Mabry Road, R.W. Mabry. Born in 1795 and died in 1870. Of everything I found in the cemetery, this moved me the most. Hard to imagine that in our modern age of instantaneous communications with anyone on the planet via the internet, this man was born in the 18th century and settled in my neck of the woods - a true pioneer.

Best seen enlarged.

This concludes my mini-series and history lesson on the Mabry Cemetery.
Neat series, Danny. How fascinating to see this history of your area. I recently stumbled upon the grave of the man for whom our area was named and it moved me, too.

I have enjoyed the series very much, Danny. Do you think this is the original? It has survived very well if it is.

Interesting mini history Danny. I guess the Mabry's made good... Cotton or sugar plantation perhaps?

He was quite old for the era. Nice tribute to the family.

@gooner46 thanks, Chris. I think this is the original as it appears very faded to the naked eye. I had to process this image extensively to allow the viewer to see the words clearly.
