Upon my arrival in Manhattan, the first thing I saw was this bongo player in the shadow of the father of our country. Everyone else was wearing a coat and this fella was staring into space and not playing his bongo. I found the scene both ironic and disturbing, and chose not to include it in my original study. However, this is a real slice of life from NYC, so I decided to share it with you during this bonus series.
Quite right, Danny - his presence makes us think more deeply about the shot. I like the composition too, particularly the line from bottom right to top left. Wonder why they don't make statues of recent presidents being driven in a limo?!
Excellent candid, very interesting contrast between the President and the passive bongo player. Great composition, intriguing image, glad you posted it.
