Today was kind of a lazy day. I didn't take a picture until the last minute, so I decided to play around with the filters on Gimp. I bought this lamp in 2000 during the WTO protests in Seattle. I worked downtown at the time and was completely unaware of what was going on. I stopped at a thrift shop after work, saw this lamp, and fell in love with it. It was $17, but I only had $14 on hand, so I asked the guy to hold it for me while I go to the bank. This is where I wandered into the thick of the protests, and could smell pepper spray in the air. I was unable to get to any locations of my bank because of police blockades, and had to go back to the shop to convince the guy to hold the lamp overnight. He decided instead to sell it to me for the $14 I had. I came by the shop the next day and brought him some cookies I baked at work to thank him for the discount.
