I took my 7D SLR and my old Pentax 28mm lens over to my pals house as I thought I may come up with a shot for 365 at some point. I was trying to explore further the freelensing technique of holding my old manual lens, in front of the lens mount of my digital SLR to try and compose a focal point of my choosing. It took a while but in the end I think I got something along the lines of a traditional tilt-shift shot which is part of the appeal of freelensing. I am not sure it's so obvious but I think I have almost managed to focus on the headstocks of the guitars with the top and bottom of frame being out of focus.
@deniseescovino I hope mine is photography. But I don;t have his musical ability when it comes to taking pictures. He's also great at drawing, painting and guitar isn't his only instrument. And he's handsome. I used to draw and paint but haven't for years, I can play guitar and drums but out of practise on both....! It's good he's my best friend otherwise I'd hate the guy :)
@stevecameras well, I hate him already LOL and I have to say I "hate" you a little bit too lol Despite being an architect, free hand drawing is not my "forte"..kind of frustrated about that lol I can plan a new house but can't hang any drawings on its wall lol
I like the lensbaby effect, I'm drawn to soft/out of focus photography with that one point sharp in the image. When I tried free lensing I had folk warning me of the perils of dust getting to your sensor, what do you think?
@jackie8 Well it's always a risk but then is changing your lens. Never had this issue with film did we...!? :) I'd say just prepare your kit in the right area and maybe don't do it on long summer days, in a field when there is lots of haze in the air :)
@joemuli Thank you. But it is very hit and miss especially with this old lens. The glass is a bit old and not quite as clear as it once was. Worth making the effort with though :)
