Day 016, Year 5 - The Arab Sun Laying Down For The Night
A simple sunset taken from the observation deck in Tower 2 of the Eithad Towers in Abu Dhabi, 300 meters up. After going 74 floors up in the lift a colleague and I walked out to a fantastic 360 degree view looking out over the city and out over the Arabian Gulf.
A the sun was setting I couldn't help but think of the lines: "Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light." because I find sunsets very evocative. I enjoy the colours, the shapes, the reflections, all the things that come with a good sunset, but I nearly always end up in a reflective mood thinking of my family, especially my daughter and generally where I am at in life. Given the view, life is ok....
In the end this sun went down very gently into the thick atmosphere just above the horizon, with no cloud to create a sunburst effect. It was still amazing to watch, especially from that high viewpoint.
I am hoping to go back for a main album shot later in the week here.
3 good things:
1 - Lovely breakfast in the hotel
2 - Productive day on site getting kit ready ahead of the Abu Dhabi golf tournament this week
3 - Fantastic views from the 74th floor of Tower 2
