The Bahamas are really quite remote even though they are located so close to Florida. Communications are difficult and the islands just get hammered each year by hurricanes and storms. Not much grows and the natural resources seem to be mostly conch shells. Georgetown is one of the largest towns in the southern islands. Here we had internet cafes, restaurants, a good grocery and medical care. This is the place I went to often with my computer to do a little email. Sometimes I would sit on a wooden crate and watch ants crawl on the walls. Oh, and they sold a few canned food items behind the counter if you needed it! What we will do for our communications!
Love the color! In the old days, we had a rotary phone and a party line. Now we’ve got the internet, Smart phones, and computers to keep us connected 24/7 and we communicate less. At least on the party line, we talked to the neighbors.
