Had to resort to another shot from the past as it's rainy and gloomy again here. I took a trip with a friend to Key West this past summer, something that I've wanted to do for a long time. The trip down Highway 1, which connects all of the keys is a spectacular one, especially from the seat of the Harley. Here we are crossing one of the many bridges that dot the trip, connecting the keys.
Wonderful perspective, lead in lines with a real sense for scale and distance Ron, with it being almost 3,000 miles coast to coast suspect you hired a bike there, I've drove a hire car along this route from Fort Lauderdale the 200 miles to Key West in a hire car a few years back and that was an impressive drive:)
@dianen Thanks Diane. Must agree that the Keys are great fun - and of course I was being safe ;-) I have pretty much perfected the ability to shoot while riding using a very capable Point & Shoot. I call such photos my "shots from the saddle."
@louannwarren Thank you Lou Ann. It was my first visit to the keys and the Key West, and I have to agree with you. A great place that I hope to go back to again soon.
@taffy Thanks Taffy. I have to admit that I wasn't consciously thinking converging lines when I decided to grab the shot....but I'll give my overactive subconscious its due credit. ;-)
@onewing Thank very much Babs, glad to know the photo conveys the feeling. I'm feeling wistful myself looking at this while the bikes sit in the garage due to overwhelming rain. :-(
@redy4et Thank you Elizabeth. You really are right down on the water when your come off the bridge. Kind of an eery feeling when you're on a bike. It truly was a great ride.
@gilbertwood Thanks Denise. As I stated above, it was kind of an unconscious realization that I captured the lines as such. I just thought it was cool with bright blue water surrounding the road. Who knew?
@pcoulson Well, sir, you may be surprised to learn I did not hire a bike at all (tried that once in Australia, and it was a huge mistake). No, I did indeed cross the country back and forth on my bike. Took about 18 days and put a little over 8,000 miles on that bad boy. That's basically what caused me to cut out of posting last year. Just got too sidetracked on that trip and then never could catch up. It was an awesome ride!
@lyndemc Thanks so much Denise! The blue in the water down that way is just amazing. I hope you get to see some blue sky soon. We're kind of in the same boat out this way too. Lots and lots of rain lately! :-(
wow! just wow! i guess one can't go on a skid else they might end up in the water. this reminds me of the time i drove to prince edward island via the confederation bridge from nova scotia; the bridge is a total of 8 miles. how long is this one? it looks endless!!
