beautiful trinket by summerfield

beautiful trinket

today is a day when i wish i am back in the old country vacationing in the islands. i go out and all i see are sullen faces of people wearing black or dark coats trying to protect themselves from the wintry elements. their shoulders are hunched forward, heads bowed, hands in pockets. smile, people, you're alive! it could really drag one down. so no outside photographs again today.

we continue our treasure hunt inside the home. and found beautiful treasure in this trinket. i bought this a while ago thinking i would use it to hold my hair up when i attrended our firm Christmas party. but i forgot all about it until now that i have been going through my stuff for something worthwhile to photograph. it is supposed to be a dragonfly or an angel depicted in brass with rhinestones and some kind of faux aquamarine stones for the wings. it is "beautiful" especially for the price i paid for it - $7.99.

ann, @olivetreeann thanks for the advice; much appreciated.

Stunning! Beautiful against the black background. What a bargain!! I'll go shopping with you anytime, girl. :) Bet that would have look great in your hair at the party.

Anytime Vikki (lol I don't quite remember what I advised you to do!!) I like this just a little bit better than the sepia because I like the colors of the hair pin. I better stop typing- it's way past my bedtime! And I probably won't remember typing this either!

Like the colors and the pin, vintage look.

A nice look to it and a nice choice for your hunt. I took a look at yoiur sepia version of this and I some how like that one better. Although it is nice to have both to compare. Enjoy your visit with your friend

What a beautiful pin and I like the comparison with the one in sepia tones.

@karenann - i should try it sometime and take a from behind self shot. upper portion only, as if i take the whole of me, i would need two cameras with wide-angle lens. haha! thank you, karenann.

@olivetreeann - the advice was that i don't always have to go outside to get a good shot for the day. and you're right. there's tons of junk in my living room alone :-) and here's one! thank you, ann.

@sarasdadandmom - thank you, terry. much appreciated.

@bkbinthecity - thank you, brian. i did enjoy bonding with my friend today.

@beba8162 - thank you, roberta. i frankly like the both of them.

i like both versions but like this one better, not sure exactly why, just do. i used to have all sorts of stuff for my hair but they disappear when felicity and mila are here as they walk out the door with it in their hair! i am down to 2 barrets.

It is a beautiful piece -- ! Your display of it is wonderful!

@catsmeowb - i used to have several hair pins and barrets. but i had to given them away because i hardly ever use them, especially now that my hair is thinning. i used to have thick massive hair but i think nature's punishing me for pimping my hair when i was young. my hair grew fast (it still does) and i'd have it cut short and sell it to a wigmaker. the most drastic was in college when my hair was well below my waistline and i had it cut just below my ears. my then boyfriend was raving mad because he liked long hair. it seemed all the men i dated then loved my long hair. thank you, camille.

@cscecil - thank you, CS. you're so sweet!
