this was the duck or loon that surprised me today while i was taking photos of a pair of ducks swimming in the other side of the pond. he seemed to say "i'm watching you!".
@karenann - thank you, karenann. i've been trying to get a clear shot of any flying bird and not successful so far. i was told i can't do it with a p&s, but i am following one lady in edinburgh who's done it many times with just her p&s so i know it can be done. i'm sure you'll get yours one of these days and that will be the 'bird in flight' that would grace my wall.
he is duck...male, mallard....I didn't know they were also know as loon..and the black and white ones that I see diving below the water..are they loons?...At any rate, I love this duck pic!!
@roth - is he not the kind of duck in our loonie? loonie, mallard, duck. same thingamajigg. hehehehe! the black and white ones, the ones that look like dart vader's soldiers, are his children. i think the female does not have the same colours, just brown but has some kind of a deep blue feather in her wings. this one was kind of 'friendly'. well, any duck or goose or swan or turkey that doesn't chase me is friendly to me. :-)
@roth - okay, my very smart niece says it's a mallard not a loon. a loon is black and white. but i shall call this one mr. loon. 'cause i'm a loonie bin! hehehehe!
