here's a 130-year old anglican bible that belonged to the ancestors of partner's mother which i rescued from the garbage pile years ago. also, the fujica camera i got three weeks ago at the antique market for fifteen dollars. it's in good working condition but i yet have to get a roll of film to see how well it works. i got it just because and also for its genuine leather case.
i'd have processed this thing silly into sepia but i want to see how i'd fare with the camera settings challenge. i'd probably fail the professional photog's critiques but such is life, ain't it?
SOOC but for the name tag somewhere.

today is young darren's first communion and i got him a nice photo album for the occasion. i had a photograph of him printed and placed on the insert (you can make out the album at the back of this photo).
@sarasdadandmom - my imagination most of the time won't pass the censor boards, but they let go of the few decent ones. hehehehe! thank you, terry. (btw, bgood job on yesterday's marathon.)
I love this composition ... somehow it all ties together. Religion, first sacraments, and the camera to take photos for capturing the events. Albeit, these are not the items that you used, they do symbolize the event. Great comment, summerfield. Will be looking forward to a photo or two from that old Fujica. :)
you know, i didn't even think about the bible and the first communion album, until i read your comments. the prompt for today on the maychallenge is 'vintage' so i pulled the bible and the camera off the shelf. and since i also wanted to put in an entry for the camera settings challenge, i placed the album in the background. i also wanted to show you guys the album. a lot of things all at once and somehow they all tied in together. the universe is still expanding, i see! thank you, ladies for your lovely comments.
Well, I am glad you did not process the heck out of into sepia..it is very nice as is! The antique items are worn and in tones so that you don't even need sepia to say "old! this is old stuff" haha
Its hard to think that this is at F5.8 as the background should be much blurrer than what it is and considering you are really close this should also increase the effect.
What image do you get if you have the background some 5 meters away from the subject?
@agima - thank you for your feedback. i will set up and try again and will post later on. those things in the background are about 18 inches away from the bookmark of the bible (the little yellow blob at the top of the book).
great find on the camera, have you tried it yet? That watermark is extremely subtle. Cool vintage objects all around, and now even the photo album. :-)
