this is my re-take. the background is about 6.75 feet (i can't do 5 metres, it's raining outside and my living room is not big enough) from the top of the book. this is one of the 3 that has blurry background, the others have extended dof, clear as day.
mike @mikehamm indicated in the discussion that "because of the smaller sensor size in p&s cameras the oof area when using a large aperture isn't as apparent as what one might see with DSLR."
maybe that's the p&s limitation? i tried shooting in manual but i still didn't get a blurry background. however, look at the next post, it seems to be a better shot.
Interesting have a look at one of my recent photos of the statue on the bonnet of the car. It is at f5.6 and. Would suggest the background in your photo is at the same distance as mine but it is hard to tell wha s in the background of my photo where this one I can stll read the text.
@agima - wow! my camera can only get to as low as f3.4. i guess i just have to invest in a dslr then. thank you, brendan. i appreciate your help and feedback a lot. and bytheway, your photo is great!
