I feel your pain! The only way I can get depth with my p & s is to set the aperture to the lowest number, and get as close as possible to my subject without zooming at all. Most of the time I add some blur with processing. Can't wait to get an SLR someday!!
@jjmarble - thank you, j. it's not painful at all. i just want to maximize the use of my p&s and practice with those settings until i understand what's going on with what. i've been doing photography off and on for so many years, i still have no understanding of shutter speed, apertures and everything else. if i want to get me a dslr (which i am ready money-wise), i should at least know half of what i'm doing. well, i change my mind, you're right, it is painful!!!!
I took a photography class and learned soooo much. I would highly recommend it. Only problem is, now I want too many accessories and lenses to go with the SLR that I want - lol!
@jjmarble - hah! i've taken a number of photography classes in the past and recently. the instructors had no patience for me or maybe it's just that i'm so lucky at getting the incompetent instructor. :-)
@jannkc - yay! thank you, jann.
Is that wahoo I see photobombing too?
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. yes, it is little wahoo!
