i am fortunate and thankful that although i have only a handful of friends, i can categorically say they are my real friends. these three are in the small inner circle of my friendship. they are my durable friends who know me and love me for who and what i am. lulu is my bestie #1; we have known each other for more than thirty years and we've shared so much joy and heartaches within that time, still do. aida has been my friend since high school. we, too, shared so many things in our lives. we have been apart for so long but when we do see each other, we just pick up where we left off, like it was just yesterday. ada is my young italian friend; we have been friends for 25 years. she lives here in toronto, but she knows me so well she knows when to call or when to leave me alone.
all these three think the same way i do. i am fiercely loyal to them and like my family, i will give my life to them if and when necessary. i am so thankful they are my friends. i love them to bits.
of course, i have a few other friends that are close to me and whom i treasure and i enjoy their company whenever i see them.
Treasures! Close friends of all types are such a blessing! Have a friend that I met teaching....I was just turned 22 and she was 23. We taught together for 12 years...now we are at different schools and she has 2 kids...hard to get together...but whenever we talk or hang out, no time has passed!
@cheribug - she will love you when i tell her this. she was out of secretarial school when we both started working at the law firm where i first worked when i came to toronto. she's about 42 now and have 2 teenaged daughters. she could well be my daughter had i had one at 16. shivers! thank you, cheryl.
