i haven't much to offer these days. i'm behind in my posting and the colour mauve just stumped me. i have a scarf that is like dusty old rose which according to the colour wheel is rich mauve. however, both cameras captured it as bland and non-descript grey.
then partner wanted to see the movie '42' so we were home later than usual. i was cleaning the kitchen counter when i thought i might capture a water crown or two for the sooc challenge. but i liked this, it has a mini-crown inside so i had to crop it real close so you can see it. processed in ribbet using 'tint' to get the colour dark mauve.
the movie was good, but it raised my blood pressure a bit. it was based on the story of jackie robinson, the first coloured person to get into major league baseball. i don't know why, but every time i hear or read about this story of "white only, coloured at the back" shit, i get really really angry. at one point, partner told me to "dear, please let go of my hand" because apparently i was digging my nails into his hand. tee-hee!
i shall be playing catch up once again. thank you for your kind views and comments; i appreciate them very much.
Great pic - I'm a beginner to photography and this is one of the shots I would like to be able to do by the end of my first year with 365. Love the colour
Beautiful capture and tinting! Have you seen the movie "The Help"? It is a good one and me me cheer for the Help. It is really sad that that happened and I am sure still does in some places today.
@roddy - suze, this is the tutorial i watched when i first did my water shots last year. i have not seen any of the other tutorials and you can google them as i'm sure there are a lot others. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwExpFDUC9Y thank you, suze.
Very cool shot Vikki. I can relate to your feelings on the whole white black issue. I just finished reading a book dealing with the year in baseball when Jackie Robinson was signed.
wonderful water crown, and that mini crown just rocks! i can understand why the whole segregation thing would just curdle your blood... it makes NO sense... and there is nothing more viscerally repulsive than being despised for your heritage...
That race inequality is maddening! thank gosh we are moving past that now. And you just "think to do a water crown" one night? and get this amazing result? I have put off a water crown shot for almost 2 years now...I am going to try one this summer. They seem hard.
