like it is today in toronto. clear blue sky, but darn it! it is darn cold. i went to the beaches to clear my head and i wore full winter gear. but i got this shot and a few nice ones.
today, if my mother was alive, she would have been 80 years old. and today's colour (blue or azure and variations thereof) happens to be her favourite colour. ever since i could remember, her special dresses were always of the colour blue - polka dot blue, navy blue, electric blue, powder blue, baby blue. the day she died the day started out as gray in the morning until noon. when she breathed her last, the sun shone and the sky cleared. she had a beautiful, content smile on her face.
today is also quite an emotional day for me (and for partner, too) because we were able to spend the day with the two grandsons. they would randomly embrace me or hold my hand and both of them on separate instances whispered "i missed you, lola" and "we're always thinking of you." little darren on the drive back, asked for a piece of paper and a pen. i handed him the little notebook i keep with me all the time in my camera bag. he wrote, in his newly learned cursive writing "hi, lola. i love you. darren". i should scan it and post it for you to see one of these days. it was a lovely meeting and the four of us enjoyed the few hours so much.
i remember your little encouragements several months ago on this matter, and i couldn't thank you enough. little darren looked at the photos i have faved the last several months and briefly browsed some of your albums. he noticed right away that i have a new camera, asked to hold it and took two shots of me in the car, a little soft, but otherwise good shots.
