there's a big park west of toronto where there's a lot of cherry blossom trees and people, locals and tourists, would trek there to have their photos taken. last weekend, the weather being so summer-like and all, i think half the population of canada would've been there. i'm being facetious, of course - it's only a quarter of the population, not half.
well, partner and i were at the beaches yesterday and we didn't know about this until this morning when he saw a photo in the paper. dangst! i wanted to see it last year and i forgot. so i'll be damned if this occurrence slipped by me again. so this morning, the forecast was clear skies and sunny and 21 degrees. so after i came from the doctor's (wink! wink!) i passed by the park to see the cherry blossoms. i thought best to go there early before everyone came. eeeeeekkk! busloads of tourists were there already so i went the other way, the unpaved paths by the creek where only the runners go. saw a mute swan tending her nest on the other side of the pond and i was kicking myself because i didn't have my zoom lens with me. missed opportunity yet again, summerfield! but after an hour and a half of walking, i came upon the cherry blossoms and the tourists. and then i lost my way going back to the train station and i actually came back to the place twice. and that's because i asked directions from a filipina. big mistake! (people, never ask a filipino for directions, wherever you are, especially when they tell you "it's over there!" hahahaha!) a few metres walk and i found a kid with an iPhone equipped with a GPS and she steered me towards the train station which was another 20 minutes walk.
then i went back in the early evening with my zoom lens but the swans were flat out in their nest for the rest of the evening.
thank you for your kind views and comments; i appreciate them a lot.
Looks like the tourists were even up in the sky for your cherry blossom shot. lol I always go in for the close-up when there's too many people around! At least you got a good amount of exercise out of this expedition. Now you're done with that for the week!
@atooner - oh! i was told it was like chaos in there last sunday! you should go on a weekday, it's a little bit more pleasant without many people hopefully. thank you, amy.
This is beautiful Miss S! and love the fact that it looks almost filmic. I have no idea what to challenge you with and feel bad for that especially after the very interesting challenge you gave me and the time you took to look through my project. I have too, looked through all your albums and they are so varied and beautiful. I read a challenge of food dye in water and it creating beautiful images there. Would you like to try it? Do you have the time? If you don't fancy it let me know and I will cook up something else :)
@frida - you're a very astute observer. argh! food dye is the bane of my photographic existence. i knew one day someone's bound to throw that challenge at me. but since i'm not ready yet to acknowledge defeat with these get push challenges, yes, i will try it. i've been meaning to get a small aquarium, i've been putting it off for the longest time, and i suppose the time has come. at least if i fail i can always get some gold fish and practice with fish movement shots. :-) i shall try to deliver by the weekend. thank you, miss frida.
@salza - it is. i wish i didn't have to go to the office. thank you. sally.
@lafish - thank you, laurie.

@henrir - thank you, henri.
@sarasdadandmom - i didn't notice anything. i didn't really have time to linger around as there were just soooooo many people. thank you, terry.
