la garita or bartizan is an overhanging, wall-mounted turret projecting from the walls of medieval fortifications from the early 14th century up to the 16th century; most frequently found at corners, they protected a warder and enabled him to see his surroundings. the bartizan shown above is one of the many found in this military fortification boasted as one of the largest in the americas, found in this island sovereign of the United States of America.

I wouldn't have guessed this interesting photo location! But I did find it! I'm not going to say because others might know it without looking it up! And good for them! Does one drink Margaritas at La Garita?
