another shot from my expedition at university of toronto with @northy.
the university, with its gothic-revival buildings, is rife with ghost stories, the most famous of which is of the two gargoyles in the University College building, that had the likenesses of two rival stonemasons. in the mid-1800's the greek stonemason and the russian stonemason were both in love with the same girl named susan. when the russian found out, he attacked the greek with a double bladed axe. he missed and the mark still exists in the building's front door. two versions of the story: first version, the russian missed the greek after he lunged at him with the axe and fell down from the tower. the greek hid is body in the foundation of the building which was then being renovated. second version, the greek stabbed the russian and hid his body in an uncompleted ventilation shaft. the one common ending: when the University College building burned in the great fire of Toronto, the skeleton of an unidentified man wearing a belt with a buckle bearing the russian's stonemason emblem, was discovered in the rubble.
what's the story got to do with the photo? nothing! but there was another ghost story about a soldier...

I wish I was feeling inspirational and could add to the stories but my brain is in neutral! This is great - the stranger is going to knock on the door!
