driving all day for my photographic pursuits, caught in traffic for two hours coming home, too much to do too little time.
we met with the restaurant owners who are opening a new sports bar. of the 67 photos i picked to show them, they chose five. i'm now waiting for their e-mail with instructions for printing size and mounting. and they told me exactly what kind of shots they want - rural but not landscape, instead, snippets of things like barns and machinery. so partner drove me around his former haunt the farm and made me shoot all the barns we saw, even though i told him my 250mm kit lens cannot capture any details if the object is in the middle of the field. i said, either we come up to the farmhouses and ask permission to photograph their run-down barns and silos, or we find barns that are near the roads. after hours of driving we found two. the first one he didn't like, something to do with 'batt' walls. the second one, a really old style run down barn with dutch style roofing was right next to the road with a large sign "private property, keep out". but i got the shots i wanted.
during the drive we passed by so many wallnuts trees like this one. the fruits were all over the roads and when the car tires roll over them they make a loud cracking sound. we saw this abandoned barn in the middle of a property and i stood under the walnut tree (a walnut actually fell and hit my shoulder) so i could get the barn, the walnut fruits and the red leaves of some vines climbing up the walnut tree.
this is a rural shot, not the one requested, but the one i like.
at the other appointment i had today, i showed fifty photos and got an order for two copies of one and a 14x20 of another shot.
another weekend like today and i would be able to afford a 500mm lens. but i don't think i'm ready for that sucker yet.
thank you for your continued support, visits, comments and favs; know that they are very much appreciated. i'm so behind in my commenting duties but i will continue to catch up with your albums.
Congrats with the sports bar shots. Love this. Where is this? If you want old barns and machinery come over here and I will show you lots. Some beautiful and new and others old and run down.
Woohoo! So pleased the sports bar are taking some of your pics! Also congrats for the other sales! Love the perspective and the composition of this shot.
It sounds exciting to be showing photos and actually walking away with orders! Congratulations! As for the walnuts and barns- perseverance is part of the photographic journey- isn't it. I like your shot too!
