we again woke up to another beautiful day, albeit a little cloudy with a very perfect temperature! but as the day wore on, the clouds gathered and thickened and apparently we are headed for a few days of rain. that's going to put a damper, literally and figuratively, on the fall colours. hopefully the leaves would withstand the rain and wind as we hope to catch the changing colours on our thanksgiving weekend which is two weekends from now.
this is at the school near our apartment building; spotted it on our way to have breakfast, stopped for a bit just to take this beautiful scenery.
thank you for your kind views and comments, ladies and gents; know that i do appreciate them a lot.
I went through your photos looking for star trails and couldn't find any...maybe I missed but this takes us to your push challenge.
I'm giving you one of my favorite PUSHes and hopefully you'll have some clear skies! Your push challenge this week has two options that take advantage of the night atmosphere and shooting in the evening. Option 2 is more complicated and is my preferred push, but number 1 may be more appropriate.
If I gave this to you previously, or do not like doing this challenge let me know and I'll give you something else.
Here are the two options:
1) night time long exposure (>10 sec) of boats on the water with either the moon or stars in the sky; or
2) Star trails of any sequence. This is my preference since it takes camera control, post processing and some adjustments.
For both of these options I've found the best looking shots have something interesting in the foreground that jumps out at you along with the rest of the photo.
Here is a program called StarStax to make the stacking of star trails easier than manually using PS. It may be easier than the German software mentioned above as well. Go here for details: http://www.markus-enzweiler.de/software/software.html
I'm curious to see what you come up with and have a good time!
@bkbinthecity - you lucky people of edmonton. :-) thank you, brian. hi, melody.
@claireuk - thank you, my friend claire. i'll try to cheer you up with my photos. and don't worry, the good weather will come back for you. :-)
@678tabby - thank you, june. love the sunlight on the red leaves, it's everywhere now. well, almost everywhere.
@mikegifford - mike, i love the confidence you have for me with these options. but can i tell you something about star trails? can't do it. why? i'm an old person, old persons need their sleep, so i can't stay up late to do star trails. also, i live in the city where even in the dead of night, all lights are on so any long exposure would just get ruined, if i even know how to adjust my camera's settings. if i do go out i need a buddy, and right now it's partner and he loves telling me "quick, let's go!" and i always feel like killing him when he does that, so this push will really push me to jail. i don't like to make bail as i'd rather get to SFO so i can travel with my bestie. all these just to say i will take option 1) hehehe even though it's still a little bit difficult for me but hoping there will be some extra terrestial bodies roaming the toronto skies at the time. and by the way, when i come in january, perhaps you will show me how to do the star trails thingie, deal? :-) but we're going out of town sometime in october so you never know, i just may try it. thank you, my good friend mike.
@summerfield One of my goals for the "month off" month is to really start reading the camera manual, and not just reading but understanding what all those words mean!
Today is our last good weather forecast day:0(
