ylang-ylang by summerfield

ylang-ylang

the jala-jala resort has some purely filipino flora and fauna like the ylang-ylang tree. the ylang-ylang is said to be one of the important floral ingredients in making perfumes. left, here you see a flower, still attached to the branch but doesn't quite look that it does. middle, the fruit cluster of the tree is essential for bird nutrition. right, a resident of the tree which inadvertently latched on to my shirt. luckily, it didn't touch my skin or i'd have more problems aside from the hacking cough and bronchial infection i have right now.

i remember in grade school, i used to climb a tall ylang-ylang tree and a few times i came down with some of those caterpillars and i'd be swollen from rashes all over my body.

went to the upscale medical center where two co-alumni work. wow, does it pay to know people in high places! doc even talked to me about photography and recommended some really good places where i should travel next.

so, there goes my week, spent resting in bed, drinking lots of water, taking meds and getting pissed with our internet connection. what a life!

thank you, folks, for your kind visits and comments; appreciate them all.
It's interesting to see what the ylang ylang tree looks like, I've only know of it in shower gel which smells lovely! Great focus, colour and detail in the photos. Sorry you've not been well, hope you get better soon to enjoy the rest of the holiday : )

Nice collage. I had never seen photos of a ylang ylang tree. Very interesting. Also, the caterpillar is like nothing I have ever seen. Glad it didn't get on your skin. And I do hope you are feeling better soon. The meds should speed your recovery.

The flower looks unique, the fruit looks interesting and the caterpillar looks nasty! Sure hope your "cold" gets better quickly. It's no fun being sick while away from home. Thankfully you have the beautiful scenery to distract you a bit.

I am so sorry you got sick while there! Boo hoo! But I am glad you knew people to get you to some good medical care. That little caterpillar sounds like a BIG PEST>
