they are a ubiquitous sight of roadside life. they cook and sell banana-cue, camote-cue (sweet yam) and turon (banana wrapped in very thin filo sheets). the banana and sweet yams are deep fried with lots of brown sugar, the same as the turon, skewered through very thin bamboo sticks and sold right there on the spot. bff and i bought some, i liked the turon, with its sweet crunchy coating. for ten pesos a stick, they were cheap compared to fifteen and sometimes even twenty pesos if you buy it in the city.
i guarantee you it's one of the best things going for this country. i never get tired of it. i think the cholesterol in my veins are throbbing and my blood sugar is hitting the roof.
I was amazed at how yummy the street side food stalls were on the Indonesian side of New Guinea especially compared to the garbage they sell here on this side.
