look through my window

it's a blizzard mess outside and the snow is piling up fast by my front window. the branches of the tree that fell during the big ice storm in december are still on the ground and has started to root itself. i just might have a forest right outside by summer. well, if ever summer came as by the looks of things, summer i think went to siberia!

i noticed a large snow flake hanging from the branch on the upper right so i grabbed my camera and put in the 250mm kit lens. after a few failed shots, the wind blew off the snow flake. was i pissed! then i shifted my position and got this view. was pleased with that little snowflake clinging so ominously to the others. it had been blown away since.

this was taken through double glass panes and since it was quite dark, a very high ISO hence the noise - i should remember to change the setting back as i plan to take this camera with me tomorrow rather than the other one. (sorry nikon!)

sooc but for the name tag.

for the madhatters' music theme. "look through my window" is a song penned by john phillips and made popular by the mamas and the papas.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly and greatly appreciated.
Very nice focus to get the star effect from the snowflake! Good for you for persevering! Hope you don't go blind from all that snow and no sun!

@maggiemae - almost blind already. i noticed after i came back from my vacation, i have to use my glasses for reading more often. not really persevering, just a lack of places to go in this darn cold spell. thank you, maggiemae.

Delicate little snowflake like a tiny star on the branch! Fabulous close up of something so small. With my eyesight, I probably wouldn't have even been able to see it. Thanks for sharing it!

You had a bunch of things working against you in this shot and yet it came out beautifully! I never would have known this was through a window!

@redy4et - thank you, elizabeth. funny you should mention about eyesight. i noticed that when i came back from my holidays, i'm using my glasses more because i can't see what i'm eating or reading. but get this: i can now see a mile away, a little blurry maybe but for me to spot that tiny snowflake in the dark no less, i'm not sure if that's a good trade off a now i don't have a need for my distant glasses.

@salza - not improving apparently as we'll be back in the deep freeze on the weekend! :-( thank you, sally.
