"lighting" is the bane of my photographic pursuits. i wonder if i will ever understand the bloody thing at all.
this is for the five plus two's theme of light play for this week; and for the madhatters' snow white theme.
also, this fulfills an old get-pushed challenge from katie @archaeofrog who, four weeks ago, gave me the challenge to do a composite image from two or more photographs. it's a very crude job but i really really now have the makings of a terrible migraine after days of trying to do this. don't be asking me how i did it because i don't know, i don't remember.
on that note, thank you, folks, for your kind visits and comments, if any; they are so much appreciated. i'm outta here!
You would do better to portray Snow White. I can't imagine you as the wicked queen. just saying. and btw. I like the shot. the light the evilness in the shadows..
Aw Vikki, this is lovely, wickedly dark but not too menacing. I light the sheen of light on the apple but seriously no photograph is worth making yourself ill for; hope the migraine goes quickly.
So sorry to hear about the migraine! I struggled with them for years and have finally adjusted enough of my diet that they are now rare! Sugar was the culprit for me. As for lighting- my experience at photography club the other night made me realize I prefer natural lighting because it's softer and you can really see with your naked eye what the light is doing. Studio lighting seems to be much harder to me (at least that's what I gathered watching everyone with their cameras and conversations around f-stops and shutter speeds and aperature, etc. etc. etc.!). So yes, the lighting is a little dark in the front here- but I think it works to your advantage as the "witch" disguises the danger of the poisoned apple when offering it to the innocent Snow White. Well done!
Sooo soo glad you played. I hear that you might get to hang out with Mira and Edie (she is moving your way). Love this shot. Super cool bokeh. Feel better, my friend:). Hugs! And wish I was there to hang with you all! So much fun, we'd have!!
@maggiemae - no bite, just shadows. and it's supposed to be the wicked witch luring snow white with an apple. i was going to buy a chocolate/caramel dipped apple but convinced myself not to. too sticky to photograph. thank you, maggiemae.
@cheribug - hahaha! you're so sweet, my cheribug. but i'm and never was the sweet snow white type. although i'm much nicer to be the wicked stepmother, just ask my stepsons. :-) thank you, cheryl.
@kali66 - running out of ideas. will try another one on the weekend. thank you, kali.
@claireuk - ah, my good friend claire. you should know by now that i am a bit ocd on the one end, at the extreme opposite side, i give up without trying. i know i should've just said 'no can do' but at the time my brain was on the ocd end. thank you, claire.
@olivetreeann - my frustration was not so much the lighting, as all i could do was take a slew of shots with different lighting. my problem was to match it with three other shots so that the light looks like it's coming from just one direction. dang, i don't even know how to explain it, tee-hee! and then to remember how to do the melding of the photographs and making all those silly mistakes. i meant to just take one photo but couldn't focus right on the darn apple with me holding it. one really good apple got smashed from my frustration. i ate it afterwards with cheese, of course. thank you, ann.
@678tabby - do like me, i guess all the time. :-) thank you, june.
@amandal - is that so? i really need to hang out with artistic people. all i get are weird ones i'm afraid they might kill me when i'm not looking and eat my brain. although @northy has that hammer.... :-D nah, i don't think she eats brains. thank you, a. feeling much better now.
