the pair of swans relaxing in the middle of their home, the man-made pond near the beaches. while the female preens herself, the male readies for battle as a pair of canadian geese flows in and cases the joint for a possible nesting place. well, this pond is not big enough for two pairs of nesting fowls, although a small group of mallards make this their home, too. you don't have to guess who won. this pond has been these two's home for more than five years and there's no way they're going to give it up. my old friend there sees to it, he's always at the ready to defend his pond and protect his family, especially his pretty sweetheart.
the early morning sun (this is on sunday morning) casts a golden glow on the water, aided by the still brown reeds.
