and this is the rainbow bridge. it connects niagara falls, ontario and niagara falls, new york. this is
the only bridge where pedestrians can walk to cross the border. from canada to the u.s. though there is a 50-cent charge to cross.
i still didn't make it as far as the marker for the two cities even though i thought i was already in the middle, just by the flags of both countries. maybe i should have walked a few more steps!
i took this from the tour boat on tuesday, we got wet of course, and my nikon wasn't quite happy with that.
@annied - not a dumb question at all. but yes, one needs a passport to go back and forth. it didn't used to until about a few years ago. thank you, annie.
It costs to get into the US from Canada- but there's no charge for us to go into Canada. I guess that means we're glad to see folks go but don't really want them to come back! I would love to go on the boat again- but I've never been in the thunder cave. That seems like it would be just as interesting. Nice shot of the bridge that took me forever to find!!
@olivetreeann - we'll need to hope for a good weather in october when we meet up again. i haven't been to the american look out and maybe we can take photos too from your other bridge! or maybe go to the goat island, apparently there's as good a vantage point in there, too! thank you, ann,.
It is a stunning view; my and eldest and his wife crossed this bridge on their honeymoon but then when trying to get back into New York they got shouted at!
