40 carats

this movie came out in 1973 but did not reach manila until a year later. i watched it with my good friend jeanna and we both fell in love with edward albert (as did all the young girls at the time. it was a good thing he wasn't "real" in the sense that he's an actor and he's from a far away land. if he was, i'd be broken hearted because my friend jeanna was a man-magnet.) the movie also starred liv ullman and gene kelly.

synopsis:
Ann Stanley, who sells real estate in New York City, is on vacation [by herself] with her mother in Greece when her car breaks down. To her rescue comes a young man on a motor [scooter] bike, Peter Latham, who has a difficult time persuading Ann to accept a ride.

They become better acquainted, drink ouzo and ultimately have sex on a beach. Ann enjoys his company very much, but still views their relationship as a summer fling.

Back home, at a party one night, Ann is stunned when her grown daughter turns up with Peter as her date [Peter was not daughter's date - he picked her up at her home in place of daughter's date]. It turns out, however, that Peter's goal is to resume his romantic acquaintance with Ann, having developed feelings for her during the summer. The age difference embarrasses Ann greatly. He is 22 and she is not even the 36 she admitted in Greece to being, but, in reality, 40.

Friends and associates of Ann are somewhat aghast at her behavior as the persistent Peter refuses to take no for an answer. In time, after demonstrating a great deal of reluctance, Ann finally acknowledges that the only thing that's important to her is true love.

Reminds me of another movie set in Greece which I loved - music and dancing. Can't remember the name but Nana Mouskouri rings a bell somewhere! You have a good expression of hope on your face!

Great focus on your ring and wonderful processing (and beautiful subject, of course!)

I love the use of negative space and the focus on the ring. Thanks for the caveat about it too. I was about to be VERY impressed! Still impressed but to a lesser degree. (;

A great representation! I wish had had a portion of your knowledge when it comes to movies! I'm afraid I'm not much of a movie buff at all, in fact very seldom watch one!

@salza - hahaha! knowledge of movies? i only know a handful, mostly those that i've seenwith friends from a long time ago. mostly when i started working my friend jeanna would always instigate. i'm not really that fond of going to movies, then when the little boy was growing up and then nephews and nieces, then i'd take them. i mostly read; i was quite the library rat once i started school. thank you, sally.

@summerfield Oh you did but a diamond of that size would have made me green with envy!
November 6th, 2014
So well done. I love the focus on the diamonds.
November 6th, 2014
@grammyn - if i have a real diamond that size, it wouldn't be on 365! hahahaha!

awesome shot, I love how you set an interesting balance and positioned yourself over to the side.

Well, wonderful, Wonderful once again! SO MANY things to mention...LOVE this image of you...you are a wonderful chameleon in every photo, perfectly taking on the persona of the person you hope to portray! As for that "40 CT" diamond, I read, after several robberies, that Sophia Loren replaced everything with paste diamonds. She continued to be a Star, so perhaps you're channeling Sophia! As for that movie, I heard of it, but never saw it. Perhaps I should check it out some "slow" winter day! Edward Albert...I do remember him... Thanks for that gem of a photo & the story to go with it!

@summerfield I hear you!

great focus on the ring, glad you gave a synopsis of the movie, I hadn't seen it. I did a movie scene tonight. I went searching for a fedora, and it was dark when I got out of work, hoping to get one before Sunday, just depends on what arrives at the nearby thrift stores. I may have to do the movie scene at the bridge without one.

loving this whole series of pictures.

Nice job- I haven't heard of this one but it sort of reminds me of a film (of course I've forgotten the title) that starred Katherine Hepburn. She's a single gal in Venice or Rome- or some place in Italy- and falls for a married fellow who wants to have an affair with her. At first she resists because she knows it's fruitless but eventually she gives in. I forget how it ends!! I think she leaves him- even though he promises to divorce his wife to be with her. Did I say this film was depressing?!! That's probably why I don't remember most of it! All that prattle to say good job on your take of this movie!!
