anthurium

a play on textures and lines. one of the shots from yesterday's photo shoot at Percy Waters flower shop. the patterns on the spathe (the waxy leaf) start from the edge and lead up to the spadix, the light coloured protruding part which is a fleshy spike covered in a cluster of small flowers, an effect known as inflorescence. these florets are the real anthurium flowers and appear like a rough surface on the spadix.

and just so you know, all the parts of the anthurium plants are poisonous.

thank you for your visits and kind comments and wonderful support; know that i appreciate them all greatly.
i like the lighting on the puckered leaf, cool shot

The texture really snows up well on black. Are these poisonous to touch, or to ingest?

They are sort of a strange looking flower but you've captured it really well.
