this is one of my favourites from the flower shop photo shoot today. they have quite a few bird cages but i like this one best. my photographs are on display and i'm quite happy with how they displayed them.
i, on the other hand, probably didn't do too well. i'm not very imaginative. how else do you shoot flower arrangements? while i was there, they had one customer who ordered a few hundred dollars worth of flowers. meanwhile, the house designer made an arrangement of orchids worth five hundred dollars for me to shoot. i thought i better take a lot of photos of it. they also made a couple of small bouquets and posies for me to photograph. i will have to go back next month when they have a big wedding order so i can take more photos. but now i am tasked with post-processing of the photographs. i took less than two hundred photos and i've looked at them. while more than half is usable, they are not artistic enough, methinks. i will be posting some in the next few days for you guys to tell me frankly whether i suck or i suck!
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that i truly appreciate them.
This is beautiful with great contrasts and patterns! I am sure youdon't suck at this ! Browse the tags flower or flowers and get some ideas from others on this site and look at the 'net for ordering flowers and see how other shps present their flowers ! You will be fabulous at it!
Oh dear you are have a blip in confidence aren't you. You are very artistic, your perfume bottle shoot springs to mind. Don't try too hard honey, your shots are just perfectly delightful, take some pearls with you some props and I am sure your will feel more at home.
lovely bird cage... i have no advice to offer as i don't shoot flowers and wouldn't have a clue what to do with them... but i am sure they will come up beautifully! you have a great eye for simplicity... just don't overthink it!
This is good- can you add some vintage effects to it without obliterating the cage and flowers (i.e. just around the edges)? As far as post processing- just remember, it's all about the flowers. So whatever way you process, make the flowers the feature of your shot. I'm sure you di just fine and I agree with Claire- you have all the know-how you need as you handled those so well. And Northy is right too- KISS (Keep it simple sister!).
Can't wait to see the photos you took of the flower arrangements....are they commissioning you to shoot them? That sure puts some pressure on, doesn't it?! Maybe you should ask them if you could take them home so that you could experiment in different lighting situations. I don't know what king of lighting they have at the store, but that probably does not lend itself for the proper setup.
