not tonight, i have a headache.

the women's camera club had a meet up at high park, west end of toronto, to shoot the cherry blossoms.

High Park is a municipal park in Toronto, Ontario. It spans 161 hectares, and is a mixed recreational and natural park, with sporting facilities, cultural facilities, educational facilities, gardens, playgrounds and a zoo. - wikipedia

well, what do you know! i think the whole population of the city of toronto descended upon the park this afternoon. it was chaos in the subway and chaos in the park. everyone wanted to see the cherry blossoms! and despite the big signs not to touch "the bloomin' trees" people still did. i saw some girls who had small twigs of blossoms in their hair. i was shooting a branch and there was this filipina all bedecked who just grabbed the branch and i had to yell at her that she's not supposed to touch the blossoms! there were families who posed their kids on the trees and a lot of the teenagers were standing on the branches. people are so idiotic!

so our group walked down a path where there were no blooming cherry blossoms and we caught this pair of mallards perched on a driftwood with lotsa fungi on it. mrs. mallard was standing rather stoically while mr. mallard was nagging at her. c'mon, mr. mallard, get her some flowers and a glass of wine and you wouldn't have to ruffle your feathers!

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
Normally Mother Duck has no say in matters but here it looks as if she is standing firm! People are so annoying - I tend to be a police lady at these events until it gets too ridiculous as it sounds as if it did here!

Perfect timing. People can be so irresponsible and thoughtless.

Visitors to the DC cherry blossoms are the same way. Although I have a picture my dad took with me, my sister and two brothers in the cherry blossom tree. It was 48 years ago and I'm sure there were no rules back then. I like how the tree forms a leading line to the ducks plus all that fungus growing on it. He should doesn't seem happy and talking about happy I hope you have a wonderful Mothers Day.

Fun capture- there are several scenarios that I can put with that "QUACK!" Sorry about the mess with the cherry blossoms. There were a lot of people at Branch Brook Park but most were quite respectful of the trees. We were probably there on a good day as it was a week day and not a week end.
