the ashbridge estate by summerfield

the ashbridge estate

this historic home is the only property in the history of toronto to have been retained by the same family for more than two hundred years. (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashbridge_Estate if you are so inclined.)

it is quite amazing how friendship is formed in this community. today i talked to louise of "louise & ken" @Weezilou on the phone and it felt like we've known each other our entire lives. i thought and she commented it herself on her subsequent e-mail, that it was like we were picking up where we left off. i suppose with the ease of camaraderie we have in comments and discussions here on 365, it made us feel like we have known each other for so long - the informality, the laughter. louise has a sweet voice, and it was what i expected upon hearing her speak. and pssst! ken has a gorgeous voice. i told louise that, too!

the discussion felt so snug and comfortable. now all we need is to actually meet each other. i am wont to believe we're going to have fun when we do.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are greatly appreciated.
Nice capture! Wonderful story Louise! Funny how many I consider friends around the world but have only met thru 365 (and the only reason I came back)

....and, this lovely home is showing its age!! But, oh my, you talked to our friend, Louise, probably to discuss your upcoming trip!! You guys will have such an amazing time together, and I am going to be vicariously living through your photos here on 365!! Louise is an absolutely delightful person, and you are so lucky to have a chance to meet her in person! She is also a little fireball (like any Leo should be!), and you two will hit it off fabulously!! I wish I could just transport myself out there, but we will have a chance to meet sooner or later. You know, California is warm in the winter....just saying!

This house! It must have so many stories it holds close at heart, this picture is both mysterious and welcoming

That is so cool!

I like that you crouched down to get this interesting POV to the shot!

So excited for you that you get to meet in person! It is one of the best parts of 365.....meeting people from all over the world that you would never have known existed if it hadn't been for Ross, his vision and hard work! @Scrivna

@grammyn - wearing short skirt, crouching down on the sidewalk to take a photo apparently is an amusing sight. i wish i had another camera to take a photo of the people who stopped behind me to examine what i was doing and what i was seeing from that vantage point.

Ross has a standing dinner invitation if/when he comes to toronto. and he knows it. i just hope he remembers when he does come here. @Scrivna

That is so true with other 365 ers. We are hoping to connect with Anita Campbell and her husband who are in Alberta right now and heading up to Edmonton this weekend

Awesome sky. Is it real, or is it ribbit?
August 5th, 2015
@bill_fe - Hoya polarizer methinks.
August 5th, 2015
@summerfield I keep forgetting to take my polarizer out of my big camera bag and add it to my smaller one.
Ha! I did it before I hit post comment. :-)
August 5th, 2015
@bill_fe - do you need any polarizer? the shop that's closing still has a few, but it depends also on the size of the filter. i took advantage of the sale to get the more pricey brand. let me know.
August 5th, 2015
@summerfield Thanks, but I have a 77mm polarizer, and I have adapters to fit it for my smaller lenses.

Wow, gorgeous old house. Don't forget to tag it architectural-august. It's perfect for that.
