the backside by summerfield

the backside

white orchids on display at the allen gardens.

today's study is depth, also called focus range or effective focus range, which is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image.

fourth day of the study of elements with prof. billy. for the lowdown, see my post here: http://365project.org/summerfield/365-still/2015-08-24

i had been having moon envy from the beautiful photos i've been seeing around here and i was all set to try out my not-so-new lens and shoot the moon. but while the weather people said tonight it's going to be clear, and my moon's going to show up, the clouds forgot to read the memo and are hovering above toronto as at this moment. maybe the clearing will happen later, when i'm in bed and sawing logs. tomorrow, perchance.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that i greatly and truly appreciate them.
@bill_fe - here's my fourth element. thank you.

Gorgeous shot and pov. I love orchids but can't keep them alive.

Such a beautiful subject showing the depth of the image very well! I may have misunderstood in my shot!

Fantastic shallow DOF. The moon is also barely visible here behind the clouds. Should I shoot Cubebot mooning me instead? :-P
