self reflection

i never liked working in a big company, and all through my working years, i was lucky enough to work for small privately-owned, stand-alone companies. there is just a more intimate camaraderie between employees and employers. big corporations, on the other hand, have more standardized procedures from which most of the time you cannot divert. cookie cutters. and don't talk to me about unions. unions were only good in the olden times when workers were really abused, especially those in the mining industry.

i work in a law office. we used to be small and everyone felt we were more like family than co-workers. then we merged with another law firm that had offices in four cities. we were still what you can call a closely-knit family albeit dysfunctional at times. then we merged with an even bigger law firm which had offices around the world. that of course changed the landscape and the game plan. and being a big, high profile law firm, we do work for high profile clients. so it's a conglomerate working for conglomerates. do i like it? not so much, but it puts food on the table and pays for a roof over my head. of course not to mention that my job there also pays for my photography hobby.

this is my take on five plus two's "conglomerate" theme this week.

this also wraps up my building reflections theme this week. starting tomorrow, i will have to dig in my kitchen drawers for something worth photographing. oh, boy! that should be interesting!

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are greatly appreciated.

I like the atmosphere of this, has a wonderful air of mystery. I like your idea of looking in the kitchen drawers for photo opportunities. My mojo is at an all time low so maybe I should join you and hopefully find the mojo lurking in there somewhere.

Love your interpretation! And this is a fabulous photo. And I really understand and agree with your feelings on working for s big corporation. I've been in a close-knit group that was acquired by a big company before and I didn't like it at all. But I also agree that it's a paycheck... :)
