a present! a present! by summerfield

a present! a present!

on tuesday night, i found in my mailbox a notice from the post office that a delivery was made but that i was not home to receive it so i needed to go to the PO the next day to pick it up. but when i went last night, they couldn't find the parcel and asked if i knew how big the parcel was or where it's from. well, beats me! the notice indicated that it was for 'victoria summerfield' and i couldn't think of anyone who calls me 'victoria summerfield'. i've always been vikki summerfield. so they asked me to come back tonight and i did. and the clerk said, 'you're getting a lot of doggie food.' yeah right.

the clerk couldn't determine where it was from but i had a good guess that it would've come from nova scotia. a sticker on the corner had a 'lunenburg' stamp and i pointed it to the clerk. how could anyone work in a post office and not know where to look? dumbasses!

in any case, i knew right away what was inside but i still got a surprise by the size of the container with all these candy cane meringue that louise & ken made for me (and for their other friends of course). before the container made it to the set up table to be photographed i had already devoured five pieces of these beautiful beautiful treats. oh, louise, i wanted to say "you shouldn't have!" but i'm so glad you did. i'm not much for candy cane but these only have a hint of it that they're actually soooooooooooooo good! it's better than sex! (sorry new flame :-P) i have to re-seal the container with packing tape or i'd have sugar overload.

thank you so much, louise! you are such a sweet friend. i want these to last for a long time but i doubt it will.
@Weezilou - i got your wonderful package and i was like a kid opening a present on Christmas morning from excitement because i knew what it was. you are so sweeeeeet, my darling! mwah! mwah! mwah!

@summerfield Ha...did the treats taste dog foodie? Once my mom sent my sister a care package of cookies in a laundry detergent box. Cookies tasted like soap.
December 11th, 2015
@amandal - hahaha! these tasted like meringue. i have never had dog foodie so i wouldn't know how it's supposed to taste.
December 11th, 2015
If doggie treats looked (and tasted) like that, I'd eat them.

Oh Darling Vikki, I couldn't be happier that you're so pleased! I didn't say anything so that it would be a surprise. I'm only sorry you had to go to so much trouble to retrieve the package! I've been told by all to whom I give them that they don't last long, so you're in good company! I carried the last I made home to California and gave packets of them to friends at a Christmas party yesterday, And now I'm craving them again myself! Next time I'll make you the plain ones if you'd like...good, too, but the peppermint seems to be the favourite of most. Love to you & your flame ;)...perhaps you'll still have 2-3 to share... Merry Christmas, Darlin'! xo from Louise & Ken

@summerfield Vikki, dear, these look delicious, and who could resist them, OR you?!!! Glad about the "new flame" since it makes you happy, but keep the meringues to yourself! Louise is truly one of the most amazing and sweetest people I have met, and this site is what brought us all together! I will definitely drink to that!

@panthora Oh you two! Osia, on our first get-together in the New Year I'll remember that you've hinted! If "I'm Sweet", it's only because I like doing things for (specially chosen) people that makes them happy ♥
