okay, so here they are now side by side: macaron (pronounced mah-kah-ROHN) on the left and macaroon (pronounced mah-kah-ROON) on the right. macaron cookies are made from a concoction of icing sugar, ground almonds and egg whites. macaroon, on the other hand, has coconuts as its main ingredient. i do not profess to know everything about these two delicacies, but i can tell you they are both delicious and are bad for your cholesterol. especially if you eat like i do; i mean a dozen of the macarons, the regular size ones, i eat like peanuts and i want more. good thing they're unreasonably expensive for my pocket so after the first dozen i can live without them. the macaroons you get to buy relatively cheap because even the fly-by-night candymakers make them for really cheap and luckily for my cholesterol i don't care so much for coconut. (coconut, to me, are those round things falling on my head when i was young while taking showers underneath the coconut tree - so you ask why i'm crazy?)
blah! blah! blah! patatit! patatat! the macaroon on the right was especially dipped in white chocolate for me by the pretty godiva manager. and because i mentioned i'm photographing the macaroon, she now wants to see the resulting photo.
for the artistic: texture theme this week for the 52-week challenge. also for the ivory-harmony challenge.
warning: i cannot promise you that this is the last of the macaroons and macarons. unless of course "someone" finds my stash and eats them all without mercy. :-P c'est tout!
Amazing photo. I read the link you provided in an earlier shot and never commented on the shot. Thanks for providing the info here too. They need to buy this image for their wall at the choclate store! It is perfect!
@bill_fe - you do that and you're back breaking bread and eating wisconsin cheese with that cheesehead scott walker. but while you're at it, take the vacuum and clean the whole place, will ya?
@grammyn - thank you, my friend. i would have to buy more chocolate to shoot with this macaroon before i could show it to the shop. the macarons aren't godiva's.
Great texture shot, I can almost feel / taste them.
