we arrived from jacksonville way after midnight last night. i conked out right away when i was in my bed. there's just nothing like your own bed, your own bedding and the friggin' noise your neighbours make to lull you to sleep. i woke up well after ten which i had never known myself to do. but i feel refreshed although my right shoulder blade is sore and i can't bend my head down without straining the muscles in my neck. darn i'm getting old.
all day i just puttered around the apartment and didn't go out to do any photographing. but i saw that we have listen for a weekly theme and i've been dying to do something like this for a selfie but i would always forget to save the cans. so I thought I'd have soup for supper then i would have a can to play with.
week 33 of the 52 portraits of me project. i know, i know! it's not saturday yet but i was lazy to do anything else. but i promise you this is the selfie for the week, the prompt of which is "the world around me".
during our trip, the airport lounges are just about the same as in malls or in public transport - 99% of the people are engaged in activities with their mobile devices with games, emails, movies. even little children. there was a young mother so engrossed with her iPad and her two children each had their own iPads, too! you see people talking - business, personal, but not with each other, but with themselves.
so while we have advanced so much with communications and technology, we have not really and properly learned how to communicate with one another; in fact, we have more than ever isolated ourselves, notwithstanding that we can talk or text with people in different parts of the world instantly.
Oh so true, so many people laughing into thin air while those around them are unseen. Suck a fun selfie though. Sometines I wish we still lived in the low tech era
cool picture. I heard a nice description of the best uses for cell phones: making appointments to meet in person. And wow do they work well for that. Nothing like ones own bed. I see the the smile
I am all about this old fashion way of listening to one another! What an absolutely fantabulous photo depicting that weekly theme. Glad to see you already made it on the PP as well!
