the poor man's risotto take 2

thank you, beautiful friends, for your feedback on yesterday's post. i agree that the middle photo was a total BLAH! i had thought that i would submit the collage anyway but then i read the rules again and it says high res photos or videos are recommended. so had to go back to the 'drawing board' to try to do another shot of the risotto. good thing there was a lot leftover and i steamed some asparagus to go with the photo (darn, but i forgot the sprig of parsley!). although i'm still not happy with this, it is obviously much better than the one yesterday and looks a lot more palatable, don't you think so? also i have decided that i will submit my recipe with the 3 individual photos and not a triptych.

so, what's for dessert?

that looks sooooo much better!

This appeals to me greatly - nice risotto type rice contained in a circle and the nicely cooked asparagus! So healthy and I would easily exchange it for a steak and chips!

This one looks much better. Rice is a very tricky subject: Imho, you could try different lying, so to bring out some shine on the vegetables and the creamy sauce, and to have some shadows among the rice grains. Also a brighter white of the dish would make the food pop out and look more palatable.

Oh, yes! This is so much better very appealing looking. I’m wondering if you had used a black plate if that wouldn’t have picked it up a notch too.

This one does look more appetising. I wouldn't spoil it with a sprig of parsley!

Better than the one yesterday. To me, the focus is still a bit off.

100 % improvement. As a matter of fact I was just reading a short article on food photography today (just out of curiosity) and you've done some of the things the author highly recommended- the close up on a white plate to allow the colors to stand out, featuring the texture and a little gloss on the veggies- so well done! (If possible before submitting- just clone out that little black patch in the upper left hand corner)
