is love in the cards? by summerfield

is love in the cards?

yes, but only if you photoshop it.

a good friend came over today and i promised to make her my specialty -- baked salmon with brown rice and mushroom topping. i also made the baked salmon with crab topping for her to take home (sadly, i forgot to give it to her as we went down to the bus stop rather hurriedly). i served it with steamed carrots and parsnip seasoned with herbed butter. and we had spinach salad with mandarin segments and candied pecans (made from scratch, an accidental recipe as i was short of two ingredients for the real candied pecans) with poppy seed dressing. so you see, when you come to be fed in my home, you will not be disappointed. but don't expect to have meat of any kind. for dessert, we had leche flan, a typical filipino sweet offering, which is similar to crème brulée but not really.

what does the photo have to do with all that food? nothing really, except that the theme this week over at five plus two is "cheating" and i don't know how else to portray cheating except with cards because my mind got addled with all the cooking i did, which wasn't much, but i've had no practice for a couple of years now. thankfully there is a fresh deck of cards sitting on the book shelf and i played solitaire (which i've not done since twenty years ago) just to make sure the cards were a complete set. check out five plus two here: https://365project.org/fiveplustwo/365/2018-12-26
Intriguing..

Oh yes, is there anything that cannot be enhanced with a little Photoshop?

Beautifully done which is no surprise considering who is doing it!

Will you try and get the baked salmon to your friend or you did yourself? It sounds like a lot of work to go to for someone to not enjoy it

Wracking my brain, trying to figure out which card has a symbol like an upside down V. thanks for the hint (well of course Marnie ( @golftragic ) ) helped solve that puzzle. The dinner sounds delicious. I could do without meat for a meal, although it would be a sacrifice (just kidding). Glad you and your friend had fun.

Totally clever!

I rarely eat meat. I like fish very much - if it is not smoked. Your cooking skills are very inspiring. The Asian cuisine is great anyway.
And: a great picture!

Sounds like a great meal you fixed for your friend. Maybe she will come back for seconds. Love your photo of the cards, but how did you get the "V" in there?
December 28th, 2018
@henrir - henri, the O is actually the 10 card and the V is the A card. just cloned out the 1 in the 10 and the horizontal line in the A, in ribbet.com. not an original, i saw this in google images. i was playing with the cards after i did my 5+2 photo and as i didn't have any post for that night, i looked up on the internet for any ideas.
