symbols galore

i could've probably filled the frame with many more symbols but i can't find the others. drat! instead most of these (the breast cancer ribbon, the horseshoe, the clover leaf and the st. peter fish) are recent acquisitions which i bought at michaels to bling up the face masks that my sister made for me.

"In Ancient Chinese philosophy, yin and yang is a concept of dualism, describing how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another." - wikipedia

the poppy is the symbol for remembrance, especially used during armistice or remembrance day. "Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty." - wikipedia

the double rings is used for weddings and marriages and symbolizes the joining of two lives into one (yeah, until they get a divorce!).

the horseshoe and the clover leaf blings are symbols of good luck.

the folded ribbon is the symbol used by quite a number of organizations to symbolize their causes -- red for AIDS and MADD; pink for breast cancer; green for organ donation; yellow for the returning soldiers; white for women's and children's rights; blue for prostate cancer (at least here in canada).

the ichthys comes from the greek symbol ikhthys is an acronym or acrostic for Iēsous Christos, Theou Yios, Sōtēr; contemporary Koine, which translates into English as 'Jesus Christ, Son of God, [Our] Savior'.

finally, the pentagram star is normally enclosed in a circle. "pentagrams were used symbolically in ancient Greece and Babylonia, and are used today as a symbol of faith by many Wiccans, akin to the use of the cross by Christians. The pentagram has magical associations." - wikipedia

Wonderful display of symbols. I have had that word in my head and wondered how I could portray it.
