i didn't always have an allergy to cats. in fact back in the old country, when we were young children, we owned a cat or two, even a dog. we had a tabby with whom i had a love/hate relationship though. its name was 'ming'. i loved ming because it didn't demand attention. it just sat on the window sill observing everything. when i didn't have anyone to talk to or when i didn't want to talk to anyone, i'd turn to ming, it would narrow its eyes, nodded its head a little, mewed a soft sound and that's it. what i hated about it is that it would catch mice and would just leave its victim anywhere. one time i told it to never do it again. so one morning it caught another pesky mouse, looked at me, i raised my eyebrow at it, gave me the evil eye and walked out the door to deliver the dead mouse to the neighbour's cat.
how we had ming was funny. it was still a little kitten when it followed my little sister all the way from school. our father said no, we cannot keep it. so he put the kitten in a box, biked the three miles to the school and put it by the door of the janitor's house. to his surprise, the kitten was waiting by our door when he came back. he was royally pissed. he threw it in the garden across the street. at midnight, when we were all deep asleep, kitten was at our door scratching and mewling. father went down, opened the door, picked up the kitten and put it under the stairs. "now be quiet!" he said. the kitten mewed once, then fell asleep.

i'm not sure i like these shaped bokehs. i pulled out my shaped bokeh kit that's been sitting in my dresser drawer. there are different shapes. this is the best i could come up with.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond - i'll look for the website. they sent a tiny toy dinosaur with it. i like the tiny dinosaur more than the kit. i can send it to you, if you like.

I think the bokeh is fabulous - enjoyed the story, too. I also developed allergies to cats and dogs later in life...most likely a good thing, as I would become "the crazy cat lady" if I wasn't allergic
I think if I was critiquing the shot, it would be the hearts are too big. But I do like the heart bokeh and the little cat. My friend has two long haired cats in her home right now. Some evening, I come away teary eyed, stopped up nose and sneezing.
@randystreat - thanks, kathy. that's how my allergy with cats started. then one day, kaboom! i had a hard time breathing and now i carry an epipen with me all the time. and when i go to people's house i tell them my epipen is in my purse and the same when i'm in the office. my friends know where to look for my epipen just in case. and i fear it's not just cat dander but a lot of other things, too.
Jeff is allergic to cats like you- not with breathing problems but these red welt like bumps come up on his skin when he's been exposed to one too long. Kind of tough when he's laying a floor in a home with a cat!
